A Lesson from Stryper

There are just some days when God uses certain songs to speak to my soul (He knows I love music!). Today was one of those days.

I had gotten through a long hard day at work. As I walk out the door (end of the work day), I found myself in a funk.

Why was I feeling this way? I don’t know. Yes, I had a hard day at work. My definition…A hard day, in my opinion, is when you get lots of good work done (accomplish what you need to for that day), but you may have made a mistake or two.

I was letting this work day weigh me down on me like a sack of bricks!

My routine before I pull out of the parking lot at work is to turn on whatever I am going to listen to on my iPhone, start the car, and drive home. Today, I wanted to listen to my music. I have my different playlists I create on iTunes. The one I have been listening to the most is my 89.7 Powerfm playlist. I made sure that ‘To Hell with the Devil’ by Stryper was on it.

Driving down the freeway, it was the second song that came on (purely God’s timing!). While the intro was playing I realized the sole reason I was in this funk was only because of the Enemy. He was using this hard day and trying to turn it into a miserable one.

I just had to laugh!! I cannot believe I fell for His schemes. It is so easy to get sucked in, isn’t it?

So thank you so much Stryper! That song spoke to my soul today.

School Buses

We avoid them. Don’t want to be stuck behind them while driving. Some of us purposely go a different route to try and get ahead of them (I do!). But…

A bus full of crazy kiddos brightened up my day.😂

At one of the stop lights on my way home from work, I was side by side with a school bus. Kids were waving like crazy and make funny faces. It was exactly what I needed! Lots of laughs!! After a long day of work, God knew that was the perfect medicine!

Prayers and Jalapeños

How many of you have allergies?

Today was my day for the ultimate allergy attack. I have recently started a new job so this was an adventure of how to work and be productive while feeling horrible.

Early this morning in SA there was a small front that came through. Lots of wind! Felt great! Then it ended by 4:oopm. Lol!

Not only did I have a sinus headache, but I suddenly felt my left eye burning from the wind. Seriously people, my eye was bright red and burning. As I felt my eye beginning to burn, I asked my coworker if my eye was bright red. Yep, it was. There were no eye drop in the med kit at work so I just rinsed out my eye with water. I felt a lot better!

I was still in so much pain that I was crying involuntarily.

What would you do if this happened to you?

Not only did I say a short prayer after I rinsed out my eye, but I also said Phil 4:13 out loud to myself. Then I texted my parents and sister and friend Alicia to pray for my relief. After all, I needed to get back to work at full speed! So what happened…right?

Within 5 to 10 minutes, I received most of my relief. Prayer is a powerful tool in the Christian walk. Do not underestimate what God can do when you pray (and to clarify, pray in complete faith)!!

Thank the Lord lunchtime arrived pretty quick, and I was starting to feel better.

Of all thing to have brought for lunch, I had Chuys poncho nachos. I had plenty of jalapeños, pico de gallo, and guacamole to put on them too. So sorry if this is making you hungry.

Did you know that if you suffer from sinus issues spicy foods help clear your sinuses? I covered my nachos in all of the left over jalapeños. Yes, Chuys jalapeños are super spicy. But they really helped.

If you would ask me today what things I am really thankful for, I would tell you prayer and jalapeños.

What an eventful day! It turned out great!

through Christ, who strengthens me.”

Thankfulness

A lot has happened since last time I wrote my Gilmore Girls’ blog post. Big and exciting news!

Let me start at the beginning, I am so thankful to have found a great church to be plugged into. I love how friendly everybody is, and how encouraging they were to me when I was trying to find a job!

Through networking at church God blessed me with a new job! Woohoo!

These days networking is a huge part of finding a job. If you are in the place I was, applying to jobs everyday with random interviews, but are having no success then I encourage you to network like crazy! It is all who you know! Really!

One of the men, at the Alamo Ranch Oakhills Church campus knew a friend who had a company that was hiring technical writers. I had done similar work and had the experience  to get the job. It was the most exciting thing to have received that call back message that asked if I wanted to accept their job offer!

I love the people where I work! Great atmosphere! I learn something new everyday, which I love!

Anyway…

What are you thankful for?

“If you don’t think you have any blessings remember your heart is still beating.” – (Not sure who the author of this quote is but I just love it!)

I am thankful for:

  1. Church
  2. Family and Friends (that did not stop encouraging me when I was unemployed)
  3. Friends I met through church
  4. Networking
  5. A NEW JOB!!! Woohoo!
  6. Parents that pray for me everyday.
  7. My nieces that give me a laugh when I need it via FB.

Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving with family or friends or both!
